A. Joy Fiber Arts

Joy here!

I am a fiber artist based in Orange County, California, and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion from California State University, Los Angeles.

My love for fiber arts began at nine, when I created my first woven piece on a small cardboard loom. My mom introduced me to my first crochet pattern. Though I knew the motions, I had not learned the stitch names, and for years I just enjoyed experimenting with yarn. It wasn’t until high school that I got my first written instructions with diagrams and symbols. Being a visual learner, I really dove into diagrams as they gave me a clearer, logic-based understanding of how a pattern is built.  As I advanced through college, I was immersed in fashion and sewing, and during this time was introduced to natural dyeing.

I provide in-depth crochet patterns and tutorials. They feature detailed written instructions with pictures and crochet diagrams with symbols, ideal for visual learners. Each pattern is designed so you can fully understand the structure helping you shape and customize your own projects.

Although my focus is on crochet for now, I continue to explore and grow my craft through other mediums.  I’m excited to bring you along on this journey of creative exploration, and I look forward to the wondrous paths it will take us.
